Greetings, I’m Ms. Eleyi
My background in hospitality, intercultural communication, education, administration, and event planning positions me well to deliver with excellence. I largely grew up in Massachusetts (USA) where a strong focus was placed on the importance of education as well as service to others; both at school and at home.
Rather than opting for the “soft life,” I’ve instead focused on doing “the work” - the important work of investing in and uplifting others. I’m grateful for those who’ve walked alongside me as I’ve opted for roles that most others wouldn’t take on, often in unsafe neighborhoods and in intense working environments, driven by my undisputed belief in the power of redemption. While social determinates of health have a notable impact; people can rise above and make choices that positively shape the trajectory of their lives.
With a passion for urban education and support that started in high school (City Year Volunteer - Boston), to my focus on social services work after college (Transition House - Brockton), to acceptance in the selective NYC Teaching Fellows (Cohort 24), to District 75 full time teaching posts in a psychiatric setting serving students with emotional disturbances (New York City Children’s Center - Brooklyn), to overseeing a District 75 site as Unit Coordinator/Dean (721Q @ Info Tech - Long Island City); my experience is varied to say the least. After some soul searching, Search Associates assisted me to secure a leadership post as Head of Student Support/Educator at Lyford Cay International School during the pandemic. With the goal of becoming vested, I landed back in District 75 in New York City to support individuals with severe disabilities learn life and job skills (721Q - Queens). My most recent teaching post enabled me to offer targeted skill and inclusion support a little closer to home (NPS - Newport).
My advocacy for students is fueled by my core belief that all people hold value and all students can learn and grow.
